General Notes (Husband)
Nageeb, son of Shaheen, came in 1893. He came to Lake Charles because his aunt, Shadi (Mary) Mansour, was there. Nageeb went back in 1910 to Bzebdine, Lebanon wher he remained until his death.
Mr. Negah Jacobs and Mrs Marie Isma were united in marriage Sunday (June 13, 1897) by Father Van de Ven at the Catholic Church. (The Daily American, Lake Charles, La. Tuesday, June 15, 1897) They obtained their license on June 11, 1897 (Lake Charles Daily American, p4)
Nageeb was spending the night at a friends' house by the name of Khoury from Sulphur, La. Khoury thought that Negeeb was having an affair with his wife and came during the night with a knife to kill Nageeb. But Nageeb awakened and shot Khoury. Nageeb then called one of his brothers, who called Sheriff Ham Reid, Sr. The sheriff told him to hide Nageeb in the country until they could get him out of town and USA. They later put him on a train in the middle of the night. He returned to Lebanon without his wife. (Theresa Boudreaux) One of the Khoury men much later went to Lebanon to revenge the death of Khoury. When he saw that Nageeb was dying of cancer, he decided not to kill him. (Marie Shaheen Michael)

General Notes (Husband)
According to records at Ellis Island, Joseph Kalil, 24, came to NY on May 29, 1899 on La Gascogne from Havre. He was single. He was on his way to New Orleans to meet his brother Toubia Youssef who lived at 514 Doumaine St.
Khalil came to the US in 1899. He first went to work with his brother Ameen in New Orleans on the corner of Orleans and Bourbon. He was a peddler; he rode the streetcar for as far as a nickle and then he would walk selling his goods. He bought a piece of land in Kenner, LA where he had a truck farm and a cow. At the age of 27 he became a citizen. Then he went back to Lebanon and married Delia. They were supposed to come back to the States on the Titanic, but because there was a dedication of a church in Bzebdine, they delayed their trip. They returned to Kenner, La, where Edward, Gladys and Marguerite were born. He eventually settled in Greenwood, MS. where he bought A.G. Abide's grocery store.
Funeral service for Charles Joseph, local merchant, was held at 2:30pm, Sunday, August 1, 1965 from the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Father Walter Maloney officiating. Burial is in the Odd Fellows Cemetery. Wilson and Knight Funeral Home took care of arrangements. He died Friday, July 30, 1965 following a heart attack. He had been in America for the past 70 years. He had been a resident of Greenwood for 45 years where he owned and operated a grocery store. Pallbearers: Raymond Ristom, A. G. Abide, Jr, Camille Kelly, Dewy Antoon, Lee Abraham, Abe Malouf, G. Hite McLean and Jimmy Nader. Honorary: Dr. Fred Sandifer, A.G. Abide, Sr., Joe Ristom, C.C. Whittington, members of the Knights of Columbus and members of the Holy Name Society.
