Back around 1962
three cousins-Louis Shaheen, Galip Jacobs and Philip Shaheen-- were
visiting with one another. They were sharing stories about members
of the Baaklini family. Being present, I asked them how I was related
to the individuals. When they begin to explain, I took a sheet of
paper and started doing a preliminary family tree. I also asked them
some of the history of the family and the early immigration of members
into this country. It was through this experience that I became excited
about our family history and lineage.
Over the years,
I have been able to gather the information we are now able to
provide on the Baaklini and Germani families from Bzebdine and
Shweir, Lebanon, as well as from around the world. I hope that
this project will serve to perserve our historical roots and to
inform future generations of their relationships within the family.
